Unlocking your breath

Because of ashtanga’s challenging physical nature, especially in the beginning of our practice journey, we tend to focus primarily on executing the postures. However, if anything, ashtanga is a breathing practice. While a purely physical workout can certainly be beneficial, it’s not until we learn to synchronize our movement with our breath that the yoga works its magic and our practice becomes truly transformational – on and off the mat.

This workshop will blend theory and practice as we explore:

  • basic breathing physiology
  • how to use breath for regulation and nervous system balance
  • the specific breathing method in ashtanga
  • the connection between breath and bandhas
  • practical tools and exercises to improve your breathing
