Ashtanga Yoga Leiden (AYL) is an initiative of Hidde and Lara, two passionate yogis that live and breathe ashtanga. Both dedicated practitioners and teachers, they joined forces to bring their common dream to life: sharing and spreading their love for ashtanga yoga and building a vibrant community around the practice in their beloved hometown Leiden.
The AYL approach: personalized teaching from within
Together, Hidde and Lara seek to create a safe, nurturing space for self-discovery and growth. They wish to inspire, support, and empower their students on their personal inner journey towards healing, transformation and liberation. The main source for their teaching is the dedication to their own practice. They care deeply about teaching from experience and firmly believe in practising what you preach.
Hidde and Lara’s teaching philosophy blends traditional ashtanga principles with modern movement insights, allowing their students to develop a safe and long-term sustainable practice. They have a warm, personal approach, and tailor their teachings to the individual needs of their students, taking background, body type and other important aspects into consideration. Teaching to them is always an interaction – it’s all about building a relation of trust and learning and growing together.
Ever the student: committed to life-long learning
Speaking of commitment to continuous growth, Hidde and Lara currently study under the expert guidance of Marque Garaux, KPJAYI Authorized Level 2 teacher. Furthermore, they regularly engage in workshops and trainings, and self-study is always ongoing. Yet, the goal is not so much to become experts, as to keep cultivating the beginner’s mind. Are you with them?
