Date: Thursday 26th – Sunday 29th November 2026
Location: The Flo Studio, Floris Versterlaan 61, Leiden
Florence Ashtanga Yoga is coming to Ashtanga Yoga Leiden! We are super excited to share that Alice will be joining us for a long weekend intensive this fall.
Alice is a free-spirited, outdoorsy, animal-loving ashtangi and a mutual friend of our teacher, Marque Garaux. She has studied with Sharath Jois at Sharath Yoga Center – where she became a Level 2 Authorized teacher – and with international teachers like Petri Räisänen, Peter Sanson and Luke Jordan. She lives in the hills of Florence, where she runs a Mysore program at her studio, Florence Ashtanga Yoga.
Alice will join us for a nurturing and inspirational four-day program of Mysore and workshops – see below for the full details. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to connect to the international community, deepen your practice and enrich your yoga journey. We are looking forward to welcoming you!

Program
Get ready for a long immersive weekend of practice and workshops! Alice will teach three Mysore classes and a primary series led class, including an open space for meditation before practice. On Friday evening, there will be a session dedicated to the ashtanga yoga philosophy and chanting. On Saturday, we’ll have a fun and energizing workshop focusing on transitions. We’ll end on Sunday afternoon with a more somatic, therapeutic session focusing on rooting and expanding. All levels are welcome! Notebooks or phones for recording are encouraged.
Friday – Philosophy & Chanting: The Practice as a Path to Inner Transformation
Together we will examine the origins of the ashtanga method, its traditional transmission through lineage, and the meaning of practicing within a disciplined and evolving system. Particular attention will be given to the philosophical idea that the body is not the final goal of yoga, but rather the gateway through which we access concentration, presence, energetic balance, and meditation.
Saturday – Transitions Unlocked: Breath, Bandhas & Intelligent Movement
Expect a deep exploration of the mechanics and subtle intelligence behind the floating transitions in ashtanga. Through breath-led movement, bandha activation and refined technique, this workshop will help you cultivate greater lightness, control, and fluidity between postures.
Sunday – Root & Expand: Sthira Sukham Asanam
This workshop explores the relationship between physical practice, the nervous system, and the mind. Through the complementary dynamics of forward folds and backbends, you will learn how to use practice as an active therapeutic tool for emotional release, mental focus, and reconnection with inner awareness. By exploring our relationship to gravity, movement, and spatial awareness, you’ll learn how to cultivate stability while maintaining softness and adaptability.

More about Alice
Alice is an Italian ashtanga yoga teacher and creative soul who began her career in fashion design, travelling between New York, London and Paris before feeling the need to find something deeper. At 27, she discovered Hatha Yoga and meditation, which led her to the philosophical texts of ashtanga.
A transformative trip through Asia in 2016 sparked her commitment to the practice, and on her return she began studying with dedication under Lino Miele in Milan and Rome. In 2019 she left fashion behind entirely and travelled to India for the first time – a journey that would shape her understanding of Indian philosophy and Sanskrit.
Alice has studied with senior ashtanga teachers including Petri Räisänen, Gabriele Severini, Peter Sanson and Luke Jordan, and the meeting with Marque Garaux deepened her understanding of the Mysore experience and the intimacy of traditional teaching. In December 2021 she made her first trip to Sharath Yoga Center in Mysore, where she began studying with Guruji Sharath Jois and became a Level 2 Authorized Teacher.
A free spirit, traveller, biker and nature lover with a plant-based diet, Alice lives in the Tuscan hills of Florence, where she founded Florence Ashtanga Yoga. There she runs a Mysore program and offers traditional Sanskrit led classes, chanting and philosophy. Like us, she firmly believes in ashtanga as a cure for the spirit, a therapy for the body, and a practice of transformation of the self.
