Lara and Hidde are passionate, dedicated and kind Ashtanga yoga teachers. They have a keen eye on details and constantly strive to provide students with appropriate feedback that works for them in the long run. I feel in very good hands with them and their cues always shed new light on the ways to progress in my practice.
Unforgettable week with Marque Garaux
A dream come true – in the third week of November, we had the honour of hosting our teacher Marque Garaux, for a full week of ashtanga and workshops.
The program consisted of five Mysore mornings and a full primary led by Marque, plus three workshops, in which we looked both at the spiritual and the physical aspects of the ashtanga practice. Halfway through the week, we enjoyed a magical recharge and recovery session at polder sauna Dankjewellness – a pure gift to our admittedly somewhat sore muscles.
We had many participants from our own community joining, but also from elsewhere in the Netherlands and even all the way from Germany and Poland! It was such a pleasure to deepen existing connections and to make new friends, over yoga, coffee, breakfast and dinner.
What a privilege to practice, learn and grow together. To practice under the guidance of our teacher and to teach alongside him. To move and breathe as one. Not to mention to experience that lifting energy in the shala. Our hearts are filled and we feel nourished and inspired for months to come.
A big thank you to Marque and everyone who joined us for this special week. To many more!

Is yoga suitable for athletes?
Absolutely. Whether you’re into endurance sports, strength training, martial arts, or team sports, yoga complements your existing training with benefits that directly translate to improved performance. With its dynamic, athletic character, ashtanga in particular is a perfect match for athletes.
The practice teaches you to breathe efficiently under physical stress—a fundamental skill for any athlete. It develops precise core engagement and stability, which forms the foundation for power and injury prevention across all sports. For athletes dealing with tightness or limited mobility, the consistent practice systematically improves flexibility and range of motion.
Beyond the physical benefits, ashtanga cultivates the mental skills that separate good athletes from great ones: sustained focus, body awareness, and the ability to stay calm under pressure. The practice builds both physical and mental resilience.
Curious how this applies to your sport? Talk to our teacher Lara — an experienced ashtangi and Ironman finisher who understands the demands of serious athletic training.
